Thanks mostly to our inexperience with the newly purchased GPS system, our first day was spent on an exhausting seventeen hours on the road. It wasn’t that we got lost, just that the GPS defaults to “scenic route.” Since our heads were still reeling from the coordination of a whole lotta details, we didn’t seem to notice that our course veered well off the beaten path.

After the long drive, we set up camp at Holly’s cousin Jimmye’s house in Dillsboro, Indiana for a couple of days to recover from the stress. His place is like a resort, really. It’s something like 15 acres of beautiful flowers and trees and includes a well-stocked pond. The peacefulness of this place along with the good company did wonders for our frazzled state. We emerged refreshed and ready for the annual family vacation in Wiscaahnsin—the land of cheese, brats, and Weasel’s. There’s too much fun to pack into just one week, so we’re gonna stay two.
