The first word spoken from the moon, July 20, 1969, was “Houston.”

Two highly collectable bottles commemorating President Kennedy’s Texas visit in 1963 are showcased in the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco. After the tragic events in Dallas, the drinks were sent to LBJ’s ranch where they were consumed and the bottles were tossed in a trash heap. When a worker there retrieved the bottles to collect the deposit, the recycler refused them as they were “not worth two cents.”

Holly was born and raised in Texas. Most everyone else in her family still lives there.
