In the Davenport Museum of Art is an original Tiffany window. It was commissioned by a prominent family for their mausoleum and installed in 1898. After thieves wrestled the window from its home in 1976, it was recovered in New York City 21 years later. The family offered the window to the museum for safekeeping, a conservator was hired and the artwork restored.
The Amana Colonies were established as a religious German commune. Unlike the Amish and Mennonites, electricity was embraced. Subsequently they invented the Radarange which was the first commercial microwave.
